Overview

 

The Configuration Specialist will provide support for the implementation and utilization of a Section 508 Web Conformance Software as a Service (SaaS) Tool for the Department of Commerce. The Configuration Specialist will leverage their deep understanding of web accessibility standards, SaaS solutions, and federal government requirements to ensure the successful adoption and effective use of the tool.

 

The Configuration Specialist will be responsible for the following:

  • SaaS Tool Expertise:
    • Configure and Customize: Configure and tailor the SaaS tool, including user setup, workflow automation, data structures, and reporting dashboards, to precisely meet the defined operational needs and processes of the Department of Commerce.
    • Identify & Communicate Gaps: Analyze Department of Commerce requirements against the SaaS tool's current capabilities. Clearly document unmet needs, potential enhancements, or necessary feature developments and effectively communicate these technical requirements back to the product/engineering teams for roadmap consideration. Validate proposed solutions and workarounds.
    • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Javascript/Node.js, Python) if the SaaS tool allows for advanced customization via scripting.
    • Familiarity with Single Sign-On (SSO) configurations (SAML, OAuth).
    • Understanding of database concepts or light SQL knowledge.
  • Section 508 Compliance:
    • Ensure that the SaaS tool and its implementation adhere to all applicable Section 508 standards, WCAG guidelines, and other relevant accessibility regulations.
    • Conduct accessibility audits and assessments of websites and digital content using the SaaS tool.
    • Provide guidance and training to Department of Commerce personnel on Section 508 compliance and web accessibility best practices.
  • Project Support:
    • Collaborate with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the SaaS tool.
    • Provide technical support and training to end-users.
    • Assist in evaluating and selecting other tools and technologies related to web accessibility.

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in IT consulting or a similar role.
  • Experience working with federal government agencies, particularly the Department of Commerce, is highly desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of Section 508 standards, WCAG guidelines, and web accessibility best practices.
  • Proven experience with SaaS solutions, including implementation, configuration, and customization.
  • Strong understanding of web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and CMS platforms.
  • Experience with accessibility testing tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
